Chess is a beautiful game, and I firmly believe that learning to appreciate its beauty is directly linked to competitive success.
I am an active tournament player with an ECF rating of 1850. I have been coaching for over 10 years, and I love seeing my students grow to their full potential, but more importantly helping them cultivate a lifelong love for the game. I give my students tailored lessons that fit their needs and interests and ultimately help them understand and appreciate the game at a deeper level.

My students learn:
Solid Fundamentals
You need to walk before you run. Depending on ability, we will focus on how not to lose material, how to control the center, and how to avoid being checkmated (among other things)!
Their Unique Playing Style
Just like your taste in food, films, or fashion, It's important to figure out what kind of chess speaks to you. By looking at classic games together and emulating your favorite grandmasters, you will develop a unique chess 'identity' and hopefully foster a deep enjoyment of the game.
How to learn and improve
In addition to teaching chess, it's critical that you learn how to use the wealth of tools available properly and efficiently. You will learn what kind of chess resources / content fits your needs and how to learn actively while consuming it. You will also learn the key skill of how to analyze your own games.
Depending on circumstances, I can give face-to-face lessons in London upon request, otherwise lessons will be delivered on Zoom.
